Mobile Height Finder PRV-16МА is a mobile jam-protected centimetric pulse radar.

Designated for detection, coordinate determination (azimuth, range, height), when operated independently or through Extractor А1000-H, ensures automatic and semi-automatic height measurement for targets with coordinate designation from Radars P-140МА, P-180У, P-190У.

Data exchange between Radar and PRV is via PS-232С Interface.

ПPRV-16МА has multiple jamming protection:
- against local object clutter and passive jamming - MTI System;
- active jamming (noise, pulse) and non-synchronous jamming - frequency tuning capability.


Height Finder PRV-16МА includes:
- Antenna Mast Unit;
- Radioelectronic Equipment with Extractor;
- Power Generator 1Э9.

All equipment is allocated on Chassis KRAZ-6322.

Operation Characteristics:

Height Finder PRV-16МА provides continuous operation within 24 hours with subsequent one-hour rest period.

Height Finder components, panels, subunits and units are of modular type allowing their standard replacement by items from SPTA Kit.

PRV-16МА Height Finder Operational Principle

Height Finder Antenna Directional Diagram is formed by a narrow beam in the vertical plane (1º) and a wider beam (3º) in the horizontal plane. Such characteristics of Antenna Directional Diagram are ensured by Parabolic Reflector with Horn Feed allocated in its focus.

Antenna is capable to move along the both angular coordinates - elevation and azimuth - for survey of the environment with such a narrow beam.

Slant range measurement is automatic and by radar pulse method .

Antenna movement along the elevation angle is mechanical tilting of Antenna Reflector together with Horn Feed, while Antenna Directional Diagram tilts in the vertical plane within designated limits and ensures in such way target elevation bearing. Synchronously with Antenna tilting, CRT Beam Sweep is being formed on Indicator. In order to get Vertical Sweep, direct voltage proportional to Antenna tilt angle sine is sent to Indicator. This voltage is generated by Elevation Potentiometric Sensor which axis is firmly connected to Antenna Tilt Axis. Thus, every Antenna position has its corresponding sweep allocation on the screen.


PRV-16МА Height Finder equipment have the following reliability parameters:

А1000-Н Extractor

А1000-Н Extractor is designated to control operation of Height Finder and make automatic or semi-automatic measurement of target height with target designation from Radar Station, digital data exchange with Radar via RS-232С Interface. Communication link distancing is not less than 500 m.

А1000-M Extractor Operation Modes

Automatic. Target coordinates (target azimuth-range and number) come from Radar Station. Extractor provides automatic Height Finder Antenna turning to a designated azimuth, automatic target detection, range and height measurement, height binding to measured target coordinates and transfer to Radar Station.

Semiautomatic. Target coordinates (target azimuth-range and number) come from Radar Station. Extractor provides automatic Height Finder Antenna turning to a designated azimuth and reflection on the screen of Range Strobe limits calculated by Extractor Processing Unit. The Operator detects a target, points the cursor on it and pushes ENTER Button. Extractor Processing Unit picks up the cursor coordinates and calculates target height on their basis. Data are then transferred via Interface automatically.

Circular. Extractor operates in Automatic Mode, with no target designation from Radar Station. Height Finder Antenna is rotating in Circular Scan Mode, and TILTING Mode is switched on. Extractor automatically measures heights of all detected targets, and Processing Unit memorizes them. Data can be sent to Radar Station continuously or against a Radar Station request.
